Q: Is WSST strictly a transparent watercolor organization?

A: Not at all. The WSST welcomes all forms of water media; watercolor and acrylic as long as watercolor paper, yupo (a plastic paper) and board is used. Our prospectus will is available on our website.

Q: Do I have to be a professional artist to join?

A: No, the WSST is open to all levels of experience. We encourage beginners and students to join to take advantage of all the workshops, demonstrations, paint-outs, and an annual member’s exhibition.

Q: Do you have to be invited by a WSST member to join?

A: No. Any one that paints in water media is eligible to be a member as long as a $25 annual (individual) membership fee is paid.

Q: Does SWS have a communications system to keep members informed?

A: The WSST provides a quarterly NEWSLETTER which can be accessed on our NEWSLETTER page. As a member, you will be placed on a mass email list for updates and other information.

Q: Is there a waiting period of WSST membership before you can enter the Member show?

A: No, you can join, pay your membership and enter all in the same process. And you can do this on our convenient on-line entry process, even pay with PayPal or credit card. A PO Box mailing address is also provided which is located on our JOIN page.

Q: Does WSST have a Signature recognition program:

A: Yes, there are several ways to achieve signature status with the WSST. If you are awarded a total of (5) awards of distinction at our annual members show, you can gain signature status through the WSST. Each award is consider a ‘point’.

We also recognize awards and acceptance honored by the SWS. By being accepted to five (5) SWS (Southwestern Watercolor Society) juried/sponsored shows you can earn SWS and WSST Signature Status.

There is no time limit to achieve signature status. Each award is recognized at a point either from the WSST or the SWS. In 2020, we will recognize all awards given from 2010-2019 towards signature status. If you have 5 ‘points’, you can petition the board for review of signature status.
